The “Ditch the dollar” movement is gaining momentum as Moscow calls for the creation of a common BRICS currency. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called for the creation of a common currency for BRICS countries during a meeting with his counterparts from Brazil, India, China, and South Africa. The idea of creating a common currency for BRICS has been under discussion for several years, but the recent tensions between Russia and the West have given new impetus to the idea.
