France is reportedly preparing for a nationwide blackout exercise in 2027, and this isn’t being described as some routine power-company drill. The scenario reportedly brings together the military, government ministries and national grid operators to determine how the country — and the government itself — would continue functioning during a catastrophic loss of electricity.
At the very same time, the United Nations is sounding a dire warning about Iran, where its human-rights chief says executions and death sentences have sharply increased and are being used to instill fear and suppress dissent.
